Located in the heart of the community of Mere Green, we welcome the whole family into our church to take part in all we have to offer. We host lots of children’s groups and currently welcome five local schools into the Parish. Alongside this, St. James is also an active branch of the Mothers’ Union charity.
We believe in inclusive Church – church which does not discriminate, not on grounds of economic power, social isolation, gender, mental health, physical ability, race or sexuality or at any level. We believe in Church which welcomes and serves all people in the name of Jesus Christ which is scripturally faithful; which seeks to proclaim the Gospel afresh for each generation; and which, in the power of the Holy Spirit, allows all people to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Jesus Christ.

Alongside our regular services, we host clubs aimed at different ages, that encourage social interaction and conversation.
Messy Church
Welcoming people of all ages, Messy Church is a form of Church that celebrates creativity and hospitality. Primarily for people who don’t already belong to a church, it meets at a convenient time to make it accessible to children and adults alike. These sessions encourage joy and laughter and would typically include: a welcome, a long creative activity exploring biblical themes, followed by a short celebration including story, prayer, song and games.
This is now held at Four Oaks Baptist Church – Grange Lane Sutton B75 5JX
St. James in Schools
There are five good Primary Schools in our Parish, this includes a Special Educational School. Our clergy often visit the Schools in the Parish and we welcome the children into the church throughout the year, at Christmas, Harvest and Easter. The schools in our parish are:

Mothers’ Union
We are proud to be an active branch of the Mothers’ Union. Please feel free to come along to one of our meetings, or contact us to see how we support family life, with all of its joy and all of its difficulty. Everyone is welcome to these meetings: a parent, or not, married, or not, grandparents, or not, male or female. Come and see what we get up to!
